    Gasoline alley indy 100

Post by ucrdoh on Sat May 07, 2011 3:57 pm

Next weekend, (May 14th) at 9pm UTC speedsims will be hosting another one off race! This time in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Indianapolis 500 we will be running forty laps in the team players mod Gasoline Alley. This mod represents cars from 1960-1964, the last years a front engine car won the Indianapolis 500.

Where can I get the mod? From here http://ffsracing.com/downloads/allnascarheatmods/paved/GasolineAlley_Folder.rar

What about the track? We'll be using the brickyard track that Lucky released. Which can be acquired here.

    http://ffsracing.com/downloads/allnascarheattracks/pavedoval/Brickyard.zip

The race distance is 40 laps, 100 miles, at 2X which means you'll have to make a pit stop.

The date again is may 14th. Sign ups are here http://speedsims.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=ors&thread=1030&page=1

Well I would've done this, until I saw who was sponsoring it.

    Sorry

even if it only works on ovals, they are not easy to run at indy. perhaps we might have a series with them here too. and they do work on dirt also. the AAA and usac series championships both included dirt races.

Well this mod does road courses as well, and yes while it isn't easy. Nothing is easy to run at indy. I've been doing it, testing it, testing it in race conditions etc. It can be done. They're a fun car to drive, and with less setup options, you have to get more creative.

    Ron,

You know you can always show up for a race @ Speedsims. As you know you don't even need to register to participate in an event. I'm aware of your feelings and etc, on certain subjects, but I wanted to put that invite out to you anyways.

BTW: The Gasoline mod can be used on road course and on ovals. Very Happy Ryan has done a super job of doing extensive testing with this mod, and he can answer any type of questions you might have. Very Happy

    Anyhow, be good to yourself.

    Cya,

    Dave

    Hi Dave,

your always welcome to post your stuff here, don't feel shy.

You know my view on things, and you know who I have my beefs with and it certainly isn't you. Do not feel bad about your decisions, I would've done the same thing in your shoes. I would even consider racing in this event if I was allowed to.
